Album: na.ma.shi.bi.re.na.ma.me.ma.i
Label: Midi inc./Mesh-key

Yura Yura Teikoku starts this live album with a BANG! The noise-filled opener pretty much sums up the production of na.ma.shi.bi.re.na.ma.me.ma.i, a record so amplified almost every single sound is drenched with distortion (picture Les Rallizes Denudes albums). If you have listened to YYT's Shibire and Memai, this record will be a treat. Not only does YYT perform some of the best songs off those two albums, they add improvisation into the songs, making them as fresh as the first time you heard them. Lets take "Who am I Again?" for example. In the Shibire, this song is fast paced and electronic, and in na.ma.shi.bi.re.na.ma.me.ma.i it becomes an energetic rock song, and with Chiyo Kamekawa pulling a bass solo, it becomes so organic that you (well, i) wish there was a studio version. Anyway, the album is balanced with a good mix of psychedelic head-swirlers, balladry, rock, and even simple pop songs. There is enough noise for the hardcore psych fans, and enough catchy melodic moments for the casual listeners, so there is no reason for you not to get this record.

Favorites: Who Am I Again?, NAI!!!, Unchain Your Heart, Penetration.

Socre: 9/10
