The Emeralds recently played in Boston and NYC in one day! They’ll be back in November with Peelander Z and The Portugal Japan. Get to know them better for the next show.
Karaterice: Introduce yourself. Where are you from?
Kazuya(K):I'm vocalist and guitarist of THE EMERALDS. I'm time traveling Rock'n'Roller from the future 100 years from now.
Osuke(O) :I'm bassist of THE EMERALDS. I was born in
England, and came back to JAPAN when I was two years old.
Akio(A) :I'm drummer of THE EMERALDS. I am from HINO-shi, Tokyo.
KR: Let's talk about love. What do you think of love?
K: LOVE is most precious thing for us in the world. There are a lots of
LOVE in MUSIC!
O: Love is the most important thing for me and for this world to live
together. And I love Mariati.
A: Love is my life.
KR: How's the NEMO Boston show?
K: That was SO GREAT!! I was really happy I went to Boston.
O: Awesome!
A: That's great! I am proud of that we are the first Japanese band in NEMO.
KR: Who's your favorite band?
K: New York Dolls, THE CLASH, THE DOORS, T-Rex, David Bowie...
O: Tsu-Shi-Ma-Mi-Re, The Spunks, Gito-Gito Hustler, Ki-Shi-Dan, Fuzzy Control, The Captains, Bleach, Titan Go Kings...

KR: Who's the God of Rock n Roll in your opinion?
K: Johnny Thunders
O: ELVIS!!
A: Angus Young
KR: What's your favorite food?
K: Of course, Pineapple Burger and Cranberry Juice!
O: All the sweet things.
A: Natto! Japanese Natto! This is the King of food.
KR: Any plans for a full-length album?
K: In the near future!
O: I hope we can release in 2006.
A: We are planning now.
KR: Do you surf?
K: Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance. I wish I could...but I don't like suntan...
O: Not at all!
A: Haha! I had challenged twice. But I could not stand on the board.....
KR: Is the audience in Japan different from that in the US?
K: Not so different, but Japanese are a little shy.
O: US audience knows "How to enjoy R&R MUSIC" better than Japanese audience. And they are very big : )
A:Yes. Japanese is very shy. US audience knows how to enjoy R&R
very well! However I love both.
KR: Is there any band or artist you would like to work with?
K: BLEACH! I would like to join JAPUNKS together with BLEACH in NYC. Could you?
O: ELVIS!
A: BLEACH
KR: Is the song Juliet about a real person?
K: She is imaginary person in my mind. But you can sometimes see her on THE EMERALDS' stage!

K:I will step in between the two and sing TALK ABOUT LOVE together!!
