Just recently, The Captains made their first stop in NYC before embarking on a spiritual journey across Eastern of USA. We talked to the vocalist and guitarist in front of the Old Office shortly before their performance. Thanks to Yasuyo from Love Etc. for being the interpreter.

KR: Introduce yourself

TC: Kizuhiko (K), the leader of the band. Guitar player, Hizashi (H)

KR: What is your favorite Manga or Anime?

K: Versailles and Evangelion

H: Kinikuma & Cobra.

KR: What’s biggest influence?

K: I like David Bowie very much. For non-bands, Seiji Terayama, movie director

H: Deep Purple. I like Jackie Chan, great action. My favorite movie is Project-A.

KR: What’s the most romantic place you’ve been to?

K: Metropolitan Museum. This morning I went for only 30 minutes.

H: Dolphin Museum in Yokohama.

KR: What do you like about New York so far? (it’s their first day-ed-)

K: There are so many races living here and it’s a good experience to see different people from different country. We wore our costumes on the street and a lot of people were very interested. They said we are Michael Jackson or Beatles.

KR: Speaking of costumes, where did you get influence to make your uniform?

K: A lot of Japanese Group Sounds groups are wearing this kind of costume and also it’s similar from the manga Versailles that I really like. It’s like a military uniform but we’re fighting for love.

KR: What is 'Group Sounds'?

K: We didn’t have that kind of rock group in the 60’s in Japan. So it’s a genre of Rock 'n' Roll from the era in the late 60’s in Japanese style.

KR: Have you ever met The Carnabeats?

K: No, last year The Carnabeats vocalist passed away.

KR: What other Japanese Group Sound that you like?

K: The Wild Ones, it’s a great great band.

KR: What about The Mops?

K: The vocalist also passed away. The day he died, I sang his song at our concert.

KR: What’s the most romantic thing you’ve done?

K: To think about this person and stay with him or her is the most romantic thing.
